We have some exciting news from our team to share and want to update you on important industry news.
Our new Technical Manager
Jacques Manus joined our team at the end of last year, and we are very excited to welcome him!
He completed his LLB at the University of the Western Cape and holds certificates for International Business Transactions and the B-BBEE Management Development Programme.
Jacques worked for the BEE Unit at the Dtic for over six years and gained valuable policy and strategy development experience. He provided inputs into the strategic plan of the BEE Unit and helped execute its operational plan. In addition, Jacques was responsible for assisting with B-BBEE measurement and technical queries, monitoring and implementing B-BBEE, conducting research, drafting policies and regulations, implementing complaints against SANAS-accredited verification agencies and IRBA auditors, and providing inputs on training and advocating B-BBEE during his time at the Dtic.
As Technical Manager at AQRate, Jacques manages all technical aspects of the B-BBEE verification process – from the quotation stage to signing off and issuing certificates. In addition, he guides verification staff on any technical queries and improves the technical operations and consistency of the business.
To be provided with the opportunity to be impactful is what most motivates Jacques in his career. He enjoys drafting legislation and dealing with technical queries because they demand detailed research and the application of existing legislation. An avid chess player since his high school days, Jacques notes that the best advice he was ever given was to prepare for every meeting with a stakeholder as if preparing for a legal trial. “I like to think ahead. Not in an adversarial way, but to satisfy the facts and all possible outcomes which might arise before the meeting commences,” he says.
Jacques’ favourite family tradition is decorating the Christmas tree with his wife and daughters each year. If he could have an unlimited supply of one thing, it would be more time to spend with his family.
